Témur Khan, Chengzong emperor
Temür Oldjaitu, Témur Khan, emperor Chengzong (1265 - February 10th, 1307) are the second leading one of the Dynasty Yuan to have controlled the Empire of China between 1294 and 1307. He was the grandson of Kublai Khan.
Temur Khan was not the successor of Kublai Khan initially chosen by this last, but it became it after the death of all the other potential successors.
Temur Khan accepted the envoy of the Pope, Jean de Montecorvino, with a certain solemnity. But Jean de Montecorvino realized well quickly that the provisions of Khan and its entourage did not let predict any possible conversion. Nevertheless, it held its role of papal legate and profited from a certain favor on behalf of Khan which authorized it to be established in the capital, to announce the Gospel and to build a church there.
After the reign of Temur Khan, the Yuan Dynasty officially started to decline at fast intervals.
