Témara

Témara (Arab: rear RTL تمارة) is a coastal town of the Morocco located at 6 km of the town of Rabat.

The prefecture of Skhirate-Témara extends on a territory from: 1089 km ², nearly 13% of the total surface area of the area of Reduction-Are salted-Zemmour-Zaër of which it forms part and 0,13% of the national surface of the territory. The prefecture of Skhirate-Témara was created in 1983 within the framework of the policy of decentralization and administrative devolution.

  • Four urban communes: Témara, Harhoura, Skhirate and Ain Aouda.

  • Six rural communes: Ain Attig, Sebbah, Sidi Yahya of Zaër, Oum Azza, Seas El Kheir and El Menzeh.

Physical and human assets:

This prefecture has enormous assets as well natural as human, which confers a promising future to him. Indeed, the natural resources and human available to the prefecture are: water resources, forest, quality of the ground, railway road infrastructure and, proximity of the two capitals (administrative and economic), proximity of equipment with national radiation, etc…

These potentialities grant to him the character of a strategic prefecture for the development of the Area.

A population in full evolution with prevalence of the urban population:

The population of the prefecture of Skhirate-Témara counted at the time of the last census of 1994: 245000 inhabitants, is an average density of 505 hab. /km ² against 207 hab. /km ² on the level of the area. In 2003, the population of the prefecture is estimated at more: 350000 inhabitants. The demographic development that the prefecture of Skhirate-Témara knows is due primarily to the rural migration towards the cities and in particular Témara whose population passed from: 48600 inhabitants in 1982 with: 180000 inhabitants in 2003 (estimate). It is necessary to add to this exodus, the arrival of many households which work in the capital and place either in Témara or with Harhoura.

A peaceful landscape:

The prefecture of Skhirate-Témara extends on a broad coastal plate from 10 to 30 km, made of full dense tilted towards the Ocean. It is delimited rather on the basis of administrative criterion and coincides with the limits of the agglomeration of Reduction-Salted and Skhirate-Témara, between the dam Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah and the Atlantic littoral.

Important water resources:

The prefecture of Skhirate-Témara extends on a tablecloth with the coastal dune system. The sector hydrogeologic of a surface of approximately 315 km ² is framed by the Ykem wadi, the wadi Bou Regreg and the Akreuch wadi. Several rivers border the area of Témara. The Ykem wadi in the South, whose lower course does not exceed 50 km length drains, thus, a basin-slope of about 430 km ².

A moderate oceanic climate:

The climate of this area is Mediterranean of share its softness as well winter as estival and the irregularity of its precipitations. It is, thus, moderate, soft and wet because of the Atlantic influence along coast (25 km of the beach).

A rich and varied ecological inheritance:

The prefecture includes a whole of natural and artificial forest extents. The green belt of Reduction, whose surface rises with: 1500 ha, constitute the principal green area of the area after that of the old forest of Témara strongly degraded.
