Tégénaire of the fields

Tegenaria agrestis is one of some 70 species of Tégénaires indexed in Europe (cf Fauna europaea). The size of the body does not exceed 10-15 mm in the adult female for 8-10 mm in the male. The sternum of this species is particularly characteristic with broad band median which strongly narrows at the posterior end.

This species is largely widespread in Europe.Contrairement with the others tégénaires, one does not meet it in the dwellings because alive in the low vegetation, the human habitat is not appropriate to him contrary to many other species of Tégénaires.

Like all Tégénaires, Tegenaria agrestis has bad reputation because of its pushing back aspect. As for other Tégénaires, its Chélicère S is a sufficient length to cross the human skin but not being aggressive, the cases of bites are extremely rare and always benign.
