Târgu Jiu is a town of Romania, chief town of the Judeţ de Gorj.
This city shelters some of works of the sculptor Constantin Brâncuşi, three of its more important creations: the Column of infinite the , the Door of the kiss and the Table of silence .
On its territory was during the Second world war a Concentration camp where the future president of the Rumanian republic Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej was held.
