Diagnosis

Clinical aspects

It is about the sudden repercussion of a strong noise, an impression of explosion in the head at a subject on the point or slightly deadened. The noise is never accompanied by pain, it is not a Céphalée. On the other hand joins it very frequently the appearance of a feeling of luminous flash, and vegetative demonstrations reactional (feeling of breathing difficulties, palpitations…).

Complementary examinations

Most of the time, if the symptom is isolated, it is not necessary to practice a Polysomnographie. If it is carried out, one finds no anomaly of structure of the sleep. A neuropsychological evaluation can be proposed, not finding psychiatric pathology, but often of the anxious elements.

Physiopathology

It is not known. It is about a Hallucination, seeming to be different from the hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations. Elements of stress and anxiety could take part in their appearances.

Treatment

No treatment is necessary.
