Syncytial respiratory virus

The syncytial respiratory virus (VRS, or RSV for Syncytial Respiratory Virus ; of Syncytium) is the most frequent cause, in the world, of the respiratory infections in the young children. Very contagious, it infects mainly the old Nourrisson S of less than two years. A Infection by the VRS can become complicated and become a Bronchiolite, which can involve in exceptional cases the hospitalization of the child.

Like all the viruses, the prevention primarily consists in avoiding the contact with infected people (crowd, public transport, kisses on the face and the hands on behalf of adults and children), to use material of single or personal use (toys, handkerchiefs), to wash the hands before dealing with the child; the Virus can live several days on objects. All also should be avoided what can constitute a respiratory gene or involve a reduction in the respiratory capacity: not to smoke, air the room 20 minutes per day, not to have too dry atmosphere, and if the disease is declared, to lay down the child by raising the shoulders.

Prevention: antibodies specific indicated at the old premature ones of less than 32 week of aménorhée old of less than 6 months to the beginning of the epidemic.
