The Symphony orchestra of the NDR ( NDR Sinfonieorchester or Sinfonieorchester of Norddeutschen Rundfunks ) is a Symphony orchestra German based with Hamburg

History

The orchestra is founded in 1945 by Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt with the support of the British authorities present in Hamburg after the Second world war.

Its first musicians come from an old orchestra Nazi, the Grosses Rundfunkorchester of Reichssenders Hamburg . The orchestra gives its first concert in 1945 with Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt to the direction and Yehudi Menuhin with the violin.

Repertory

Since then, the orchestra acquired a great fame in the defense of a traditional repertory of Beethoven to Bruckner, like in a more contemporary repertory.
