History
The orchestra is founded in 1945 by Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt with the support of the British authorities present in Hamburg after the Second world war.Its first musicians come from an old orchestra Nazi, the Grosses Rundfunkorchester of Reichssenders Hamburg . The orchestra gives its first concert in 1945 with Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt to the direction and Yehudi Menuhin with the violin.
Repertory
Since then, the orchestra acquired a great fame in the defense of a traditional repertory of Beethoven to Bruckner, like in a more contemporary repertory.
