Symphony orchestra of the BBC

The Symphony orchestra of the BBC (or BBC Symphony Orchestrated ) is a Symphony orchestra London, principal orchestra of BBC, not to confuse with the Philharmonic orchestra of the BBC.

History

The orchestra is founded in 1930 by Adrian Boult which becomes principal chief until 1950 about it.

Prestigious permanent chiefs directed the formation, such Antal Doráti, Colin Davis, Pierre Boulez or Guennadi Rojdestvensky, while Arturo Toscanini or Jukka-Pekka Saraste was regularly invited.

In 2000, orchestrated appointed it its first type-setter appointed in the person of Mark-Anthony Turnage. John Adams becomes on his side the first Associated Artist in June 2003.

The orchestra ordered works with the type-setters Harrison Birtwistle, Pierre Boulez or John Tavener.

The orchestra plays each year a prominent part in the concerts of summer called BBC Proms which proceed with the Royal Albert Hall.

The other orchestras of the BBC are BBC Philharmonic, National BBC Orchestrated Wales off, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestrated.
