The Symphony orchestra of Cincinnati (in English Cincinnati Symphony Orchestrated - CSO) is one of the symphony orchestras American oldest.

History

After the formation of various orchestras between 1825 and 1872, the orchestral association of Cincinnati ( Cincinnati Orchestrated Association ) is founded in 1893 by the woman of the future president of the United States, William Howard Taft. The orchestra gives its first concerts in 1895 to the Pike' S Opera house , before moving in the concert hall of Cincinnati ( Music Hall ).

The orchestra is in particular directed by Richard Strauss and Edward McDowell. It ensures the American creation of the symphony n° 3 and the symphony n° 5 of Gustav Mahler.

The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra is formed in 1977, with Erich Kunzel like chief.

In 1995, Jesús López-Cobos leads the orchestra in a European round, the first since 1969. In addition to the many concerts given throughout the musical season, the orchestra is the pillar of the Cincinnati May Festival .

Since 2001, Paavo Järvi, wire of Neeme Järvi, ensures the musical direction of the orchestra. He announced the prolongation of his contract until in 2011. He undertook many recordings discographics, regilding the blazon of this orchestra rather ignored with the international level.
