The Symphony orchestra of Chicago ( Chicago Symphony Orchestrated in English) is large a Symphony orchestra American based with Chicago, in the State of the Illinois.

In 1891, Charles Norman Fay, a Business man of Chigago invites the Leader Theodore Thomas to gather an orchestra with Chigago. This one is carried out and the “Orchestra of Chicago” ( Chicago Orchestra ) is created. The inaugural concert takes place on October 16th, 1891 with the Auditorium Theater . What does one of the oldest American orchestras of them, with the Philharmonic orchestra of New York, the Symphony orchestra of Boston and the Symphony orchestra of Saint Louis.

For more than 100 years, the orchestra has occurred on the scene of the Symphony Center complex of Chicago (formerly called Orchestra Hall ), a building located at the 220 of the South Michigan Avenue , imagined by the Architecte Daniel H. Burnham and built in 1904.

Since 2006, there is no Musical director (it is not named yet). Meanwhile, it is Bernard Haitink which ensures the principal direction of it while Pierre Boulez was appointed the highly skilled leader by it.
