Symphony n° 25 of Mozart
The Symphony n° 25, Kv 183, in minor ground is a Symphonie composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart fine 1773.
Between 1770 and 1774, Mozart composed a score of Symphonie S, giving an good example of the “series production” which imposed to him of many orders and an important program of concerts. Unfortunately, this massive production is not compatible with a quality all “mozartienne”: thus the majority of the symphonies between Kv 75 and Kv 202 are rather uninteresting although elegant and spiritual.
The Symphony n° 25, Kv 183, in minor ground is an exception to the rule. It was certainly made up in October 1773 but nothing proves this date. One speaks about miracle for all works in minor ground of Mozart: they express a concern, an anguish and install a tragic atmosphere that nothing appears to be able to alleviate.
This tragic symphony, rageuse, throbbing, which is the ancestor of famous the Symphonie nº 40 (for this reason one calls it the “small minor ground”) cuts out like the majority of the others, in four movements:
- Allegro idiot brilliance
- Andante
- Minuet & Trio
- Allegro
It was useful like music of the credits of the film Amadeus.
The Allegro idiot initial brilliance begins on a very famous and very beautiful topic, but which is not less than one incredible violence hitherto. Strewing all the first movement, this topic perpetuates the feeling of death while the Hautbois spring subtly in a mélodieux and nostalgic song. Movement, simple slightly modified resumption of the initial topic coded, shows a will to worry the spectator by prolonging the “suspense” for the following movements.
The Andante which strongly follows contrast with violence of what was heard. Sonorities and the modulations of this slow movement are not less extremely pathetic and this Andante is perhaps even more alarming than the preceding Allegro .
The Menuet in itself breathes nostalgia, sadness, the melancholy. The Trio , entrusted only to the cords, is the only merry note of the symphony, although there too nostalgic.
With the last Allegro , the throbbing arpeggio S of the opening begin again of more beautiful, conferring on this finale the task to show the anguish boring everywhere and constantly. This diagram of symphony in minor ground where only the Trio response with the gravity of the Andante , the pugnacity of the Minuet and the violence of the finale and the first movement, will be exactly taken again in 1788 during the composition of the Symphonie nº 40.
