Sylvio Kirouak

Sylvio Kirouak was born from Joseph Kirouak and Victoria Brassard the March 31st 1894 with Jonquière with the Quebec.

After its traditional studies with the small seminar of Chicoutimi (1909-1915) and theological studies with the great seminar of the same place (1815-1919), it is ordered priest on July 6th, 1919, in the vault of the seminar of Chicoutimi by Mgr Michel-Thomas Labrecque, bishop of the diocese.

With the small seminar of Chicoutimi, he worked during 22 ans :

  • of 1919 with 1923 : employed for gets,
  • then professor of religion and French literature, Latin, Greek, history and geography, mathematics;
  • finally prefect of the studies of 1935 to 1941.
It leaves the small seminar to be a chaplain with the boarding school of Good-Pasteur during 2 years. From 1943 to 1947 it is named Principal at the Teacher training school of Roberval.

Then cleaned with the Cathedral of Chicoutimi of 1947 to 1967. It worked there until its retirement. During this period, it is named open Vicaire (V.F.), titular canon, then honorary canon of the Chapter of the Cathedral of Chicoutimi and Prélat domesticates his Holiness on October 14th, 1949.

Sylvio Kirouak is withdrawn at the 71 years age to the Head office of the Antoniennes sisters of Marie with Chicoutimi. He dies at the Hospital Hospital of Chicoutimi, on October 21st, 1977.
