Sylvia Plath
A handwritten (of Latin manu scriptus ) is literally a text “written with the hand”.
In Printing works, the term indicates the draft of a text provided by an author. Today the handwritten literary are not systematically written with the hand. However, the texts seized with the typewriter or the computer can be called tapuscrits.
By extension, the term also indicates the Volume containing such a text.
Modern manuscripts
They are the manuscripts of the writers or various documents (registers of parishes, town halls, banks…).Many old or modern manuscripts are present in public collections or private.
In France, IMEC is a scientific organization in charge of the study of the means of conservation of the manuscripts of value. The National library of France comprises a department of the old manuscripts and another which collects the invaluable manuscripts for the history of the literature and the historical studies.
