Sylvestre III
Sylvestre III (Jean of Crescenzi Ottaviani ), born with Rome about the year 1000, pope of the 20 janv. to the 10 mar. 1045. By its very short 6 weeks pontificate, it is titular sixth shorter pontificate of all the history of papacy. This short duration is due to its abdication, which it took because of the dispute reigning at the time of its election. It will die out in 1046, one year after having abdicated.
