Sylvain of Gaza

Saint Sylvain of Gaza is a bishop of Gaza, died in Martyr in 311.

Condemned to the mines with 40 other Christians. Like all condemned to the mines, they had a torn off eye and a foot flaring with a reddened iron. When they were considered to be “useless”, because of their physical status, one of of “got rid” as one made it for all condemned to the mines; they were decapitated.

He lived with Gaza under the reign of Dioclétien. It was a soft and peaceful man who served the Church as lasting priest of long years.
