Sylvain and Sylvette

Sylvain and Sylvette is a series of cartoons created in 1941 by Maurice Cuvillier then with his death taken again by Claude Dubois for the drawings and Robert Génin for the text.

Then, Jean-Louis Pesch will take again the torch, since 1956.

These accounts for children report the stories of Sylvain and Sylvette, two children brother and sister, alive in the middle of a forest in the company of speaking pets. They would pass a peaceful life without the " Compères" , a band of wild animals made up of a Fox, a Bear, a wolf and a Sanglier which regularly try to adapt to them Chaumière and their goods.

First series

The first, carried out by Cuvillier is republished by the Editions of the Triumph

Here the list of the titles of the first series of the albums Sylvain and Sylvette (with the format with the Italian , 20 pages), published with the Editions Fleurus, series started in 1941 with Maurice Cuvillier, in a tone which points out the environment of the France of Vichy, marked by the Catholicisme and the return to the ground . The drawings are in turn the work of Maurice Cuvillier, Claude Dubois and Jean-Louis Pesch: in this first series, our heroes Sylvain and Sylvette, brother and sister, are not surrounded by as many animals as in the more recent albums. At that time, their menagerie only counted: the ass Grigris , the bird Cui - Cui , the cat Man with a moustache , the rabbit Panpan , the goat Goatee , the lamb Mignonnet (saved and collected at the end of the N°3 album), the rat Little rat and the hen Pullet . As for the accomplices, enemies of Sylvain and Sylvette, the three “histories” are the Renard , the Loup and the Sanglier . The meeting and the union of the three accomplices with the Bear Martin takes place in the N°5 album. The accomplices, at their beginnings, are dangerous and determined before their comic side under the influence of Pesch does not develop.
