Sylvain Lévi (born on March 28th 1863, died in 1935) is a French indologist, professor with the Collège de France, member of honor of the French Ecole of the Far East. The sinologist Paul Pelliot (1878 - 1945) was one of his pupils. He was one of the first with interresser with the Tokharienne language of Tokhariens (Indo-European people established in the basin of Tarim dice it - VII before our era in Xinjiang in the west of China). He brought this one closer to the Sanskrit and contributed has his deciphering. See the article of Serge Butterfly on Tokhariens.

Its work on Nepal was published in French in three volumes in Paris, in 1905 and 1908, under the title “Study historical of a Hindu kingdom: Nepal”. Republished by Kailash Eds; box; study (2 volumes); 11/2004
