Sylvain Floirat

Sylvain Floirat (1899-1993) Born on September 28th, 1899 in the Périgord (in Nailhac), he was initially carriage-builder with Saint-Denis ( bus Floirat ) at the end of the Second world war, then launches out in the businesses by obtaining in 1946 the authorization of exploitation of air lines within the framework of Public transport: it is the creation of the company Aigle Azur which begins its activities on the North Africa, the Lebanon and the Indo-China and which always exists.

In 1955, it begins again, at the request of the French government, the radio station Europe n°1 then in difficulty and very quickly one of the most popular radios in France.

By taking the direction of Matra Machines, it makes of it a profitable industrial unit centered on the innovation in telecommunications, transport and the computer use in military applications.

At the end of the Sixties, Sylvain Floirat repurchases celebrates it Hôtel Byblos founded in 1967 with Saint-Tropez. The hotel which owes its notoriety with the gallery of stars and of people which attended it.

In 1981, he is administrator of the group Hachette and takes part in the directory of the group Filipacchi in 1984.

The Floirat group, centered today on hotel trade with Byblos de Saint-Tropez and that of Courchevel and the real estate in the South-east of France, is directed today by the great-grandson of the creator, Antoine Chevanne.
