Sylvain Dupuis

Sylvain Dupuis is a Musicien, Leader, Compositeur and Belgian pedagog , born with Liege the October 9th 1856 and died with Bruges the September 28th 1931.

Biography

Raise with the royal Conservatoire of Liege in the class of Hautbois, then professor of harmony, it gains in 1879 the First Belgian Grand Prix of Rome for his Cantate Camoens .

Named Leader of the Theater of the Currency to Brussels in 1900, it creates there several operas, of which the Foreigner of Vincent d' Indy, the King Arthus of Ernest Chausson (1903), Pepita Jimenez of Isaac Albéniz (1905) or victorious Eros of Pierre de Bréville (1910).

In 1911, it succeeds Jean-Theodore Radoux with the direction of the royal Conservatoire of Liege.
