The Sydney University Football Club is a club of Rugby to XV, based has Sydney, in Australia. It is the oldest club of Australia (1863) and one of oldest of the world. It is rested by students of the very new university of Sydney who become thus the first to be played Rugby in Australia, from where its nickname of Birthplace off Australian Rugby ( where was born Australian Rugby ) or even simply The Birthplace . The club takes part in the very first competition organized in Sydney in 1874 in company of Balmain, Newington College and The King' S School. Rugby being a university gasoline sport, it attracts the future players easily and becomes naturally one of the heavy trucks of the Rugby of Australian club. He knew long periods of domination in Sydney (years 1920,1950,1960) and after about thirty years of failure, he gained new Shute Shield in 2001 and another in 2007, carrying his total with 19. Only Randwick did better.

Many its players were selected for the province of News-Wales-of-South, including more than one hundred for the national team of Australia. Most famous of them is without any doubt Nick Farr-Jones, captain of Wallabies, crowned world champions in 1991. Among most recent, one will quote Phil Waugh, Brendan Canon, David Lyons. The importance taken by the Super 14 and the international meetings however limits the contribution of the best players to some matches per season at best.
