Sycamore (or sycamore of the Greek " Sikon" , Fig and of the Latin " Morus" , Mûre) is a name given to various species of trees.
At the origin, the " term; sycomore" referred only to the Figuier sycamore (Ficus sycomorus L.).
Thereafter, one also called a species of maple, Acer pseudoplatanus, maple sycamore because of a light resemblance of his sheets to the fig tree sycamore.
In North America, the vernacular name of the " kind; Platanus " is Sycamore (American sycamore, California sycamore, etc).
