Swami Satchidananda
Swami Satchidananda , (of its true name Ramaswamy ) born in 1914 in the area of Tamil Nadu and dead on August 19th, 2002 is a Indian Religieux famous in Occident and more particularly with the the United States of America in the the Seventies and 80.
Biography
After its studies, he becomes a man d´affaires on behalf of the company India' S National Electric Works . He Marie and has a child, before his wife does not die by putting at the world her second wire. He then entrusts his children to his mother and launches out in a spiritual search through l´Inde which will take several years before qu´il does not meet its guru, Sri Swami Sivananda, of Rishikesh.During the end of the the Fifties and most of the the Sixties, it remains in l´ Ashram of Kandy Thapovanam with the Sri Lanka where it modernizes and brings up to date the integral Yoga.
In 1966, it visits New York on l invitation of l´un of its disciple, l artist Peter max. Shortly after this visit, it goes back to the United States and s´y establishes to continue its teaching of yoga. In 1969, Satchidananda becomes famous like official announcer of l´ouverture of the Festival of Woodstock where he teaches with psalmodier the “Om̐”.
During years, it publishes many works, opens several institutes of yoga (of which l´Integral Yoga International) and informed of many disciples, among which Alice Coltrane, Allen Ginsberg, Jeff Goldblum, Carole King and Scott Shaw
