Svetlana Alexievitch

Svetlana Alexievitch , born on May 31st, 1947, is writer and Belorusse, dissenting journalist supported by PEN club and the Soros foundation.

It received many prestigious prices for its novel Supplication - Tchernobyl, chronicle of the world after the apocalypse (1997). This book remains however always prohibited in Bielorussia.

It is also the author of Cercueils of Zinc (2002) and of the war does not have a face of woman (2004), this last work recalling by interviews the account of women soldiers of the Red Army lasting the second world war.
