Svanétie
The Svanétie or Svaneti (in Géorgien ka სვანეთი) is a historical province of the Georgia, in the North-West of the country. He is inhabited by the Svanes, an ethnic sub-group of the Géorgiens.
The archaeological monuments of High Svanétie belong to the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO since 1996.
Geography
Surrounded by high mountains of: 3000 with: 5000 meters, Svanétie is the inhabited area highest of Europe. Four of the ten highest peaks of the the Caucasus are in Svanétie. The highest mountain of Georgia, the mount Chkhara, rises here with: 5201 meters. One also finds the Tetnuldi mountains there (: 4974 m), Shota Rustaveli (: 4960 m), and Ouchba (: 4710 m).
