Suzanne Borel-Maisonny

Suzanne Borel-Maisonny (1900-1995) is one of the founders, in France, of the Orthophonie, profession which makes it possible to rehabilitate in particular the disorders related to the oral language and writing.

It is also the creative one of a phonético-gestural method where gestures are associated with sounds; this method is known under the name of Méthode Borel-Maisonny.

She also worked on the instrumental disorders of the children (dysgraphia, dyslexia, disorders of the body diagram) with the neuropsychiatrist Julian de Ajuriaguerra, within the multi-field research team in psychology and psychopathology of the child of the Hospital Holy-Anne-Henri-Rousselle (Nadine Galifret-Granjon, Mr. Auzias, J. Banks, H. Gobineau, D. Koechlin, I. Lézine, I. Santucci, G. Soubiran, Mr. Stambak, Rene Zazzo etc).

She created with the Association of the rééducateurs of the word, the oral and written language and voice (the ARPLOEV) in 1963, the Orthoepic review Rééducation, now published by FNO (National federation of the Speech therapists).

She published of 1929 to 1989 more than 250 contributions devoted to: analysis of the word and phonation, phonetics, acoustics, audiometry, hearing and perception, the acquisition and the structure of the word and the language, delay of word, delay of language, dysphasies, speech therapy and language, divisions palatine and velar insufficiencies, auditive deficiencies, congenital verbal deafness, audimutism, the Aphasia S, the Stammering, the articulation, malformations oral, the dyslexia S, the dysorthography S, the language of the defective intellectuals, the Dysgraphia S, etc
