Suvarnadvipa
Suvarnadvipa , " the island of the or" in Sanskrit, is a name mentioned in the Indian epopee of the Ramayana written between IIIe century before J. - C. and IIIe century after J. - C., which perhaps indicates the island Indonesia of Sumatra.
Accompanying the emperor Mahmûd de Ghaznî in his voyage in India, the Persan scientist Al-Biruni writes in 1030: " The islands of the east in this ocean, which are closer to China than of India, are the islands of Zabaj, called by the Hindus, Suvarnadvipa, i.e. the islands of gold… because one obtains much gold in deposit if one washes an only little ground of this countrée".
