Surmang

The monastery of Surmang is composed of a complex of 9 founded monasteries Kagyupa approximately 600 years ago and located in the province of Kham, with the Eastern Tibet. It is the seat of Trungpa Rinpoché, the line of LAMA réincarné spiritual and temporal authority of the area of Surmang in Tibet. The valley of Surmang is located at 120 kilometers, and 9 hours of road, in the south of Yushu.

With the 20 years age, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoché already responsible for the monasteries of Surmang, had to flee its country in 1959, following the Chinese military invasion of the Tibet. The monastery of Surmang then undergoes a destruction which will continue during the Cultural revolution. In the Eighties, it, but badly, was partially rebuilt. The purpose of the Konchok Foundation, created by the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoché, wire of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoché, is the rebuilding of the monastery of Surmang.

Choseng Trungpa Rinpoché is 12th and current Trungpa Rinpoché. It was born the February 6th 1989 in the village from Pawo, with Dege, in the East of the Tibet, the Kham. He was recognized by Taï Sitou Rinpoché in 1991. He was established one year later with the Monastery of Surmang by his uncle, Damkar Rinpoché, a high LAMA Kagyupa. He in particular studied the traditions of Surmang. Choseng Trungpa Rinpoché would like to begin the rebuilding of the monastery.
