Suricate
The suricate ( Suricata suricatta ) is a small species of Mangouste, carnivorous Mammifère alive in the south of the Africa.
The suricate is only the species kind Suricata . Measuring from 25 to 35 centimetres, the suricate eats inter alia insects, small reptiles, tubers or bulbs of plants which he excavates in the ground with his legs provided with nonretractile claws.
The suricate lives in colonies of a score of members, in burrows of the flat of Southern Africa, in the south of the river Orange (Angola, Namibia, South Africa and south of the Botswana). The Gestation lasts 11 weeks for ranges from 2 to 7 small. Sentinels take turns to take care on the group, while being drawn up on the legs postpones and communicate by cries to prevent dangers, like the presence of raptors.
Each time the group leaves in hunting, these sentinels are posted on slopes. Upright on the monticules, they scan the horizon in order to announce any danger.
With regular interval, the sentinels push cries so that each one can be located compared to the group. They await the answers of each member. If a suricate does not answer, a sentinel leaves to its research.
Tiller, the accomplice of Pumbaa in the King Lion belongs to the family of Suricates.
