Surgical operation

A surgical operation is a Medical act which generally consists in extracting a structure or to reach a body to be treated after Incision on a Patient anaesthetized in sterile Milieu. Surgical operations are manual acts practiced by the surgeons.

Surgical operations are in general used to repair a serious Traumatisme (serious Fracture, Hémorragie…), to look after a Infection, to extract a pathological structure, to release a compressed body (digestive Occlusion, for example) or to correct a Malformation.

One estimates that in 1994, in the United States, the most current surgical operation was the surgery of the Cataracte, with approximately 2049000 people per annum. The second most current operation in this country - and perhaps most current for the male population - could be the Circoncision.

The dental extractions and the voluntary interruptions of pregnancy could be, with the Circoncision, the operations most practiced all over the world.
