It is into 1992 that the Canadian league of soccer (CSL) put an end to its operations. Supra disappears and Montreal is found once more without team of soccer professional to defend its colors. With the autumn of this same year, the Saputo group will take again the torch by acquiring a new frankness, the Impact of Montreal, in American Professional Soccer league (APSL).

History

After the end of the North-American professional league, the NASL, in 1985, only remained in North America the MISL, leagues professional football in room. The Manic of Montreal had ceased its activities in 1983. Must be waited until 1987 to see setting out again the professional soccer in Canada, whereas this one did not exist any more in the United States. In 1988, Supra of Montreal joint to the other clubs of the new Canadian League of soccer.

In Montreal, there initially had been a series of blows of glare and dubious advertisements deprived of financial means. Then, for much, it is a " miracle" who achieves himself, at the beginning of March 1988, when the run of the successive promoters stops by a choice: large the " sauveur" be called O' Keefe. Montreal holds finally its new professional team. O' Keefe one of the three larger breweries of Canada, is already largely implied in hockey, the baseball and American football. It is following a consensus between the components of football montréalais that the powerful corporation was convinced to invest as a principal silent partner. The selected formula will be the Community property. A corporation with nonlucrative goal will be controlled by a board of directors made up of 12 voters: six companies founders (of which O' Keefe) more six representatives of the small investors. Guy Burelle, in the past president of the Federation of soccer of Quebec, and Arshagouni Bet, ex-person in charge of the program elite of the same organization, are respectively elected president and managing director. The budget of the team will be of 2 million Canadian dollars, of which a third in wage bill. Arshagouni declares immediately that " no player will be able to allow, considering the wages, the exclusive practice of the soccer". From the 18 players that proposes to engage the trainer Andy Onorato, 13 will come from the semi-professional League of Quebec, whereas the direction hopes to recruit the three lawful foreign players.
