Supertec
Supertec was a company, founded in 1999 by Flavio Briatore, charged to market the engines of Formule 1 ex- Renault. The French manufacturer withdraws officially discipline queen at the conclusion of the season 1997 but the company Mecachrome, which manufactures the blocks Renault de F1 continues its activity. If Mécachrome continues to manufacture the engines and under its own name in 1998 markets them, it is Supertec which distributes them near the stables customer as from 1999.
Supertec is thus provided to the stables Williams and BAR in 1999 and to Arrows in 2000. In addition, the ex-Renault engine is also provided of 1998 to 2000 to the Benetton stable, which will badgera it Playlife name of one of its sponsors.
Supertec took the departure of 33 GP and made it possible to register a total of 42 points. Its best result is one 2nd place with the GP of Italy 1999 (Ralf Schumacher on Williams FW21) and the best qualifications were two 4th on the grid, obtained by Ralf Schumacher with the GP of Europe 1999 and Alessandro Zanardi with the GP of Italy, always in 1999.
