Supermotard

The Supermotard indicates a sporting discipline and the Motocyclette S being used for practicing it.

Competitions

It is about a sliding sport being held on circuits made up from approximately 70% from bitumen and ground 30%.

Extracts from the payment FM (French federation of Motorcycle racing) 2006:

"The distribution not bituminized - bituminized of a mixed track of race, calculated over the length, will correspond to 80% maximum and 50% minimum of bituminized zone and 20% minimum of zone non-bitumée."

In France, there exist 3 types of distinct competitions:

  • championships of France, separate in 4 categories: 85 cm ³, Promobiker, 450 cm ³, and more than 450 cm ³

  • the trophy of Open France, opened with very rolled (provided, for the pilots, by not to have marked of point in CH. from France previously)
  • cuts of marks:
the Challenge One Husqvarna
  • the Trophy KTM (which will not continue in 2007)
  • a Trophy Suzuki RMZ (new for the season 2007)
  • a Trophy Aprilia SX-V (new also)

    History & technique

    The first race of Supermotard (the " Superbiker") there was held is a score of years, with the the United States, on the beach of Daytona.

    All the interest of this discipline is slips it: The machines used are light motor bikes (approximately 100 kg) designed for the practice of cross-country. During large brakings on the tarred parts, the driving brake associated with the phenomenon of mass transfer forwards causes one slips of the aft wheel. This one, if it is well managed by the pilot, makes it possible to place the machine in an optimal way D-to accelerate as soon as possible.

    With dimensions spectacular one of this technique of piloting and still accentuated by the often precarious adherence of the machines when it leave the ground part.

    Description of the machine

    In the beginning it was of Trail or Moto-cross on which were installed Jante S of 17 inches with pneumatic of road. The nose gear wheels and back are smaller to offer a better handiness, and a kit of more powerful braking is installed.
