Superman (film)
Superman is an American film carried out by Richard Donner and left in 1978. As its name indicates it, it is founded on the frankness Superman , Super-héros celebrates it, and constitutes first film of the saga to the cinema of Superman .
Synopsis
The planet Krypton is about to explode. Jor-El, large scientist, cannot however convince anybody of this imminent drama. It decides to save his only son, Kal-El, while placing it in a space probe so that it can leave planet before his end. Kal-El arrives on the planet Ground, where it is made collect in the United States by an old couple, Kent, which raise it and rename it " Clark". Whereas it grows, Clark/Kal-El discovers that, because of its nature Extraterrestre, it has superhuman capacities. Clark then decides to fight the evil and the danger under all their forms, as Superman, the Man of Steel. Follow of many episodes which see Superman trying for the first time to allure Loïs Lane and will end in its first confrontation with Lex Luthor.

- Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Charles Bronson, Kris Kristofferson, Clint Eastwood and James Caan had all to play Superman/Clark Kent/Kal-El, but were not elected. Even Sylvester Stallone tried to take down the role.

Marlon Brando was paid 4 million dollars for its ten minutes performance. A performance for which he refused to learn his counterparts, but preferred the lira directly on a text written on the layers of Kal-El.

to obtain a suitable musculature, Christopher Reeve followed a large program of body-building with David Prowse, known to have played Dark Vador in the trilogy Star Wars (1977). Its body evolved/moved then so much that the scenes turned at the beginning last being remade.

turning lasted 19 month, with 11 teams of turning, and more than 1.000 technicians divided out of three continents, length which is due to the fact that Donner and Ilya Salkind shared the realization and that the images of the second opus were turned during this period.

the producers thought initially of Steven Spielberg for the realization of Superman , but hesitated in front of the wages which he asked. They awaited in fact to see the results which it was going to have with the Teeth of the sea , but Spielberg turned then worms of other projects and Richard Donner took again the hand, after the producers had proposed the station with Guy Hamilton.

Superman was an immense project for the Warner Bros. Pictures which authorized an investment of 45 million $, very important amount for the time, but it is true that waiting of the public was strong because of the success of the character in the American cartoon of Jerry Siegel. Thus, three years and half of preparation were necessary on the whole, and turning lasted one year and half, between the studios in England and outsides in New York, in New Mexico and Canada.

the film had at the origin being even longer, the missile launched by Superman in space releasing the criminals kryptoniens Zod , Ursa and Non of the Phantom Zone. The turned scenes were finally re-used for Superman II , where the trio will be released by a bomb in an elevator, also launched to him by Superman.
