Raymond Savignac , commonly known as Savignac , is a famous poster artist French born the November 6th 1907 with Paris and dead the October 31st 2002 with Trouville-on-Sea (Apple-brandy), at the 94 years age. One owes him in particular of many advertizing posters which form part of the French cultural heritage now. The discussion thread of its works is an effective simplicity and a key of humor.
Autodidact, it begins his career of poster artist in 1935 with graphic Alliance under the supervision of Cassandre. But it is in 1949 that it meets success grace in particular to a famous publicity for the Savon S Monsavon with the Lait. He said itself: “I was born with the age from forty and one years, of worse of the Monsavon cow. ”
He is in particular the author of the poster of the film the War of the buttons .
With Trouville-on-Sea (Apple-brandy), where it had been withdrawn in 1979, the Montebello museum, devotes a special room, open to him in a permanent way. One finds there 350 posters, 40 greetings cards, 12 models and 12 lithographies. A walk on the beach is also dedicated to him. One can see there some of the posters which it devoted to the seaside resort Norman. A course downtown was also designed to discover the painted walls representing of the local posters of the artist.
