Super Bros Smash. Fray ( 大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ DX , Dairantō Smash Brothers Deluxe ) is a Video game of combat where clash the principal characters of Nintendo, developed by HALL Laboratory, left on GameCube in 2001. Gameplay

Super Bros Smash. Fray takes again the principle of play of its predecessor: to gain, it is necessary to make leave its adversaries the ground. Regular match

Traditional

It ends in a combat against Create-Hand (and Die-Mainiaque in more if you finish it in normal mode).

Venture

Consist in following a course defined with combat and phases of platforms, where it is necessary to advance in a level all while getting rid of adversaries. You can, throughout your progression in these levels, to find trophies in order to increase your collection. It ends in a combat against Bowser Géant (if you finish this mode in normal mode in less than 18 minutes, you will have to beat Giga Bowser).

AlStar

Freed once all the characters were obtained, proposes to fight with a limited number of care (three hearts) against the twenty-five characters of the play, initially by team of one, then of two, then of three, and finally against twenty-five including Mr. Game & Watch.

Vent Match

Allows to play 51 tests with the varied goals and the sometimes preset character. There are special tests, such as the Fray trophies or the AlStars matches. The frays trophies make it possible to obtain trophies which can be gained only this manner. The AlStars matches consist in carrying out a series of engagements a little to the manner of the All-Star mode, but with a limited time.

Target Test

The objective is to break ten targets, which requires a good control of the capacities of the character. Play as a multijouor

The multijoueurs mode makes it possible to play from 1 to 4 players. If one only plays, at least a computer is needed, but one can also play 3 players, against a computer. The rules are much more personnalisables that in the solo mode. There are several types of plays multijoueurs:

Versus

The Versus mode is standard the multijoueurs mode. It is more personnalisable, since it is the player who decides number of participants (4 at the most), objects available, methods of victory (Time, Vies, Pièces, Technique), teams ..... It is also possible to play against characters managed by the computer, the latter then have a going level of difficulty of 1 (weakest) to 9 (most extremely).

Special Fray

The mode Special Fray is based on preset rules:
  • Camera Mode: Player 4 controls the camera, and can take photographs of the combat.

  • Stamina Mode: All the players start with 150 points of life. To fall or lose all its points of life makes you lose the part. The last survivor is gaining.
  • Super Sudden Death: All the players start with 300% of damage. This mode of play is often played with many lives, or certain people prefer to play with 6 lives and in the level " castle of hyrule" , combat being only carried out (except for some kill carried out out of the hole, where one cannot survive the least blow) in the cave (or hole), the players end up acquiring reflexes flashes in order not to rebound against the walls, lengthening of as much their lifespan.

  • Lightning Mixed: The play goes once and half more quickly. There too, the errors are frequent, especially if the players miss reflexes. Attention, time also passes in accelerated!
  • Slo-Mo Mixed: The play goes twice less quickly. It is one of the rare parts of the play where patience is of setting. The parts are there generally T R E S L O N G U.E. S.
  • Individual-Short prop Mode: the button B, Y, X, R, L and Z are unusable and does not remain that the button has and sticks. This mode is ideal to start to play but is too wearying for lack of combos.

Other modes

Among all the other modes, there is the trophies mode (see low) and of course, there is also a menu " Options" who allows to parameterize the play like activating or decontaminating a function which is called " Déflicker" , practical for the television sets not offering images extrèmement precise, since this function is used to add a light effect of blur.

  • Kirby, the pink ball appeared for the first time in Kirby' S Dream Land . Special attacks: B = Absorbtion of the enemy to be able to take his appearance and one as of its capacities. --> + B = attacks slow with a large mallet. high + B = attacks with a whirling sword launching a shock wave in front of kirby. low + b: Kirby is transformed into rock or invincible weight. All these characters have speeds, weights and different techniques. The player with the possibility of changing the color of their costume, thus one can find the tunics Goron (red) and Zora (blue) of Link (of Ocarina off Time) or change Peach into Daisy. Some characters have techniques almost identical to other characters, like Fox/Falco, Mario/Dr. Mario, Captain Falcon/Ganondorf, Link/Link Enfant, Pikachu/Pichu and Marth/Roy, although with the practice their differences appear clearly in the play. To note that to change clothing of a character does not affect of anything his capacities.

Trophies and objects

The player is brought to collect 290 trophies (more 2 which one can obtain thanks to the action replay, therefore 292 in all the versions, but 293 for the Japanese version in which one can free one 3rd trophy with the action replay), figurines referring of near or by far to the universe of Nintendo, thus entrusting to SB an anthological function. One can thus see, inter alia, a figurine of Ayuma Tachibana (of Detective Range), of a console Game & Watch, of Goomba resulting from Super Mario Bros., of a stage Pokémon and even of a Nintendo GameCube.

It is also possible to collect and use objects at the time of the engagements. One finds for example a Pokéball calling upon Pokémon chosen by chance, the barrels of Donkey Kong or the mushrooms of Super Mario Bros., as well as the hammer resulting from the play Donkey Kong with which the player can make much damage (on this subject a light modification was added to the hammer compared to Super Bros Smash. ). Mr Saturn of the play EarthBound also appears but it has a limited utility, it can only be launched on the adversary to cause him very little damage.

Not-playable characters

  • Right hand (Master French Hand or Create-hand): The character who gives life to the trophies and which acts also as final boss, as in the first Super Bros Smash.
  • Left hand (Crazy Hand or French Die-mainiaque): Alter-ego of the Right hand which adores to destroy all that is alive. It will appear if you finish the Classic mode at the normal level, hardware or very hardware in less than 15 minutes and if you remove half of the points of life of the create-hand in less than 30 seconds.
