The Sunshine Coast Stingrays are a club of Rugby to XV Australian, located at Kawana, on the Sunshine Coast in the north of Brisbane (Queensland). They evolve/move in the first division of the championship of Queensland. Its players are likely to be selected for the Queensland Reds (Super 14) and for the Ballymore Tornadoes (Australian Rugby Championship).
Name
Rays pastenagues are the poisonous, typical fish of this part of the coast of the Queensland.
History
Stingrays were founded in 2005, to directly integrate the the first division of the State of Queensland in order to promote the Rugby with XV in the north of Brisbane, where it is managed by Sunshine Coast Rugby Union. The first year, the club played in two cities, Caloundra and Noosa, then in Kawana in 2006. For 2007, Noosa will accommodate seven matches, Maroochydore and University one each one, while a meeting was played on March 24th in curtain raiser of a match of the Super 14 between the Queensland Reds and the Waikato Chiefs, with the Suncorp Stadium.
