Presentation
Sunset Boulevard is this mythical street which, since Hollywood, makes it possible to gain the Pacific Ocean and to admire the Sunset per hour of the Crépuscule, from where its name (Sunset: twilight, in English)Sunset Boulevard owes its celebrity with her 39 kilometers length, its sinusoidal form, very unusual to the the United States where the streets are rectilinear and cross to right angle, and especially thanks to the exceptional places which it crosses or skirts: Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood and Pacific Palisades. This does of it one of the tourist places of the city.
Put aside West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, which are two autonomous municipalities, the referred to above places are all of the districts of the town of Los Angeles. To height of Bel Air and Brentwood, Sunset Boulevard skirts the campus of the famous University of California of Los Angeles (UCLA) and in Hollywood, it joined Hollywood Boulevard and its mythical Walk off Famed.
History
Sunset Boulevard extended formerly more to the East, starting from Alameda Street close to the station Union Station, but the section in the East of the highway Interstate 110 was famous César E. Chávez Avenue, just as Macy Street and Brooklyn Avenue, in honor of the Mexican union leader. The section of the boulevard crossing Beverly Hill of Is in West is a time named Beverly Boulevard.
Reputation
Just as Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard, other mythical streets of the Californian city, Sunset Boulevard is especially known Angeleno S (inhabitants of) for its congestions with the rush hours, its Pothole and its frequent fixings due to the absence of central reservation.Sunset also acquired the reputation of place of prostitution of the city, as the film Pretty Woman suggests it. This has however tended to be contradicted for a few years. It is with the angle of Sunset and Courtney Avenue that Hugh Grant was taken in red-handed with the prostitute Divine Brown the June 27th 1995, being worth with the actor a fine of 1200$.
Sunset is one of the high places of the night life of Los Angeles, with bars, restaurants, nightclubs, particularly with height of the Sunset Strip, in West Hollywood. It is in one of them, the Viper Room, that the actor River Phoenix found death by overdose in 1993.
