Sunnyvale (California)
Sunnyvale () is a city of the Comté of Santa Clara, in California (the United States). It represents in surface the second most important city of the county, and the fifth of the urban Région of San Francisco. According to an estimate of the Office of the census of the United States, the city counted 128 549 inhabitants in 2003.
Integral part of Silicon Valley, Sunnyvale accommodates the seats of several companies of high technologies, in particular Juniper Networks, Palm, Inc., AMD, Network Appliance, Spansion, Yahoo! and Ariba, Inc.. Honeywell, Northrop Grumman Systems Mission (located at Hendy Iron Works Museum), Lockheed and Spirent Communications also have offices with Sunnyvale. The city accommodates also the Onizuka Air Force Station (called the the blue cubic ), the only active military base of the urban Région of San Francisco. The base, named in the honor of the Astronaut Ellison Onizuka of the Space shuttle Challenger, is the principal control center of artificial satellite of the Armed forces of the United States.
Sunnyvale is one of the rare American cities where all the members of the department of civil security are trained at the same time as a Pompier and police officer, and can all intervene in the two types of urgencies.
Geography
The coordinates of Sunnyvale are (37.368767, -122.037055).According to the Office of the census of the United States, the city has an total surface area of 58,6 km ², including 1,8 km ² of watery surface.
The city is bordered in north by the Baie of San Francisco, by the town of Mountain View with the west, Santa Clara in the east and Cupertino in the south. It extends along the historical road El Camino Real and from U.S. Road 101.
History
When the Spanish arrive in the Années 1770 in the Vallée of Santa Clara, the place is already inhabited by the Amerindian S Ohlone. In 1777, the Mission of Santa Clara is built by of Ohlones converted with the Christianisme.In 1842, Estrada and Inez Castro are seen granted the grounds indicated like Rancho Pastoria of mow Borregas . The demolition of Town Center Mall of Sunnyvale started in 2005. The shopping mall, built in the Years 1970, must be replaced by a mixed development, integral trade and residences, on the model of the district of Santana Row to San Jose, and intended to redefine the center town, whose historical axis is South Murphy Avenue, a short section between Evelyn and Washington. The project is however blocked since 2006, even if the two stores headlights of the shopping mall, Macy' S and Target, remain open.
Demography
According to an estimate of the Office of the census of the United States, Sunnyvale counted 128 549 inhabitants in 2003, is a reduction of 2,5% compared to the Recensement of 2000, which determined the number of inhabitants with 131 760. The city counted 52 539 hearths, 32 679 families and 53 753 residences. The Population density was of 2 318,7/km ².The city was made up ethniquement of 53,7% of white, 2,22% of Afro-américain S, 0,46% the originating ones in Oceania, 7,19% people declaring other ethnic origins and 4,25% declaring mixed origin. 15,48% of the population were Hispanic or latino.

Transport
