Sunny Murray

James Marcellus Arthur " Sunny" Murray is a Batteur of Jazz born the September 21st 1936 in Idabel, Oklahoma, the United States.

Biography

It settles with New York in 1957 and works with traditional musicians like Henry Red Allen or Willie " The Lion" Smith before integrating the trio of Cecil Taylor in 1960. One also hears it at the sides of John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman or archie Shepp.

After some rounds and short stays with the Denmark in the Years 1960, it settles in France 1968 with 1972. During these stays in Europe, he plays with Albert Ayler, Alan Silva, Lester Bowie, Dave Burrell, but also Michel Portal and Barney Wilen. Of return to New York, it takes share with the Loft Movement , before ceasing any professional practice of the music of 1979 with 1987. In 1989 it returns to France, sign with IACP and plays and records with the saxophonist Richard Raux, the pianist Curtis Clark, Mischa Mengelberg and David Murray.
