Sunday Bloody Sunday is the song of opening and third individual of the album War recorded in 1983 by the rock group U2. It is today one of the emblematic songs of the Irish group.

It is one of the songs most openly political of the group. Its words describe the events of Londonderry in 1972, known under the name of Bloody Sunday, where fourteen peaceful demonstrators were killed by shootings of the British army.

Sunday Bloody Sunday was creates starting from a front of guitar and words created by The Edge in 1982. This first outline did not have a final title nor even of refrain but contained the topic and the principal structure of the song. Bono worked over again the words. The group recorded the song with the Windmill Lane Studios with Dublin.

It is also the title of the song n°6 disc 1 of the double album Some Time in New York City of John Lennon left in 1972.
