Suncorp Stadium
The Suncorp Stadium , known before under the name of Lang Park , is a stage located at Brisbane in Australia mainly dedicated to the Rugby to XIII, the Rugby with XV and the Football, which can accommodate 52.500 spectators.
The site of Lang Park was formerly a cemetery of the North of Brisbane and was arranged in 1914 to become a site of relaxation.
The Queensland Rugby League negotiated in 1953 the hiring of the site for one 21 years duration. The first matches of Rugby to XIII were disputed in 1957. A change of the statute of the site in 1962 allowed to carry out the construction of new platforms between 1962 and 1994.
The stage is used for Rugby XIII by the Brisbane Broncos and Queensland Maroons, and for Rugby with XV by the Queensland Reds and various clubs of the city, like the West Brisbane Bulldogs.
The stage was refitted until in 2003, to carry the capacity to 52 500 spectators, on this occasion the stage taken the name of Suncorp Stadium. Matches of the World cup of Rugby 2003 were organized in this stage which for the occasion with taken again the name of Lang Park to conform to the rules of IRB concerning the sponsoring.
Since 2006, the Queensland Reds play their home matches in Suncorp Stadium. The football club Queensland Roar FC argument also its matches in this stage.
A statue of the legend treizist of Queensland, Wally Lewis is set up at the entry of the stage.
