Sumqayıt
Sumqayıt (in Russian: Сумгаит, Soumgaït ) is a town of Azerbaïdjan located on the edge of the Caspian Sea, to about thirty kilometers in the north of the capital Bakou. With 289.700 inhabitants, it is the third city of the country.
In 1988 took place a massacre of Armenians in Sumqayıt.
Environment
In 2007, the city was classified by the Blacksmith Institute among the 10 sites more polluted of the world.
