Summer school of Boulogne-sur-Mer
The Summer school of Boulogne-sur-Mer is an association with nonlucrative goal developed by the various public universities of the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais, the town of Boulogne-sur-Mer, the local and regional institutions.
Presentation
The teaching of French but also the discovery of the area, the culture and the traditions of the country, the comparison with the inhabitants, the reception, animation, belong to the mission of the Summer school of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The municipality of Boulogne-sur-Mer, is also implied for warm welcome and integration in its town of our foreign hosts.
Partners
The Universities of the area associated with the development with the Summer school are the following ones: the University of the littoral, the University of Lille 1, the University of Lille 2, the University of Lille 3, the University of Artois and the University of Valencians and Hainaut Cambrésis. Since his creation, (there is more than 50 years) the president of the Summer school of Boulogne-sur-Mer was always President or Honorary president of a University of the area.
History
The reception of the student S foreigners in the town of Boulogne-sur-Mer is an old tradition: since 1902 of the courses of French for foreign students takes place during the summer. These courses were organized initially by “the Committee of the Alliance Fran1caise”Stopped by the two wars, the formation took a new rise and a true dimension as from the years 1950 - 1951. At that time, the University of Lille proposes in the town of Boulogne-sur-Mer of the “summer schools for foreign students and professors” and organizes in parallel the lodging of the participants in the families of Boulogne. This activity meets a great success very quickly: 30 students in 1951,200 in 1957. It is the beginning of an uninterrupted operation. Indeed, each summer, from many foreign students come to learn the French language in the town of Boulogne-sur-Mer.
As of its origin, the Summer school of Boulogne-sur-Mer has a broad vision of its mission. Through the teaching of the French language, she also seeks to stimulate the meetings, the exchanges between the various cultures. The titles of certain press articles are very evocative: “Préfiguration of the world of tomorrow” (1960), “the foreign students discussed future of Europe” (1967). In the same way, user-friendliness and the discoveries are elements which form integral part of one stay at the Summer school: reception by the inhabitants and the local personalities, excursions, visits, invitations with meals, organization of festivals, conferences…
The Summer school functions since its beginnings under a statute of association, managed by the University of Lille. Thereafter, with the creation of new universities in the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais, association was managed by members of the various universities like by personalities of the City and Area. The presidency of the Summer school of Boulogne-sur-Mer was always entrusted to a President of a University of the Area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
Currently, the President of Association “Summer school of Boulogne-sur-Mer” east Mr Alain Dubrulle, Honorary president of the University of the Littoral Coast of Opal; the President Déléguée is Mrs Sadia Pamart, Professor certified of Modern Letters.
