Sumadija
The district of Šumadija , in Serb Cyrillic Шумадијскиокруг, is a district located at the center of the Serbia. In 2002, it counted 298.778 inhabitants. The town of Kragujevac is the administrative center.
This area is densément wooded. Into Serb, the forest says " Šuma" , from where the name of this district.
Near Kragujevac several monasteries are dating from the Middle Ages, in particular those of Divostin and Drača.
