Sul Brasil

Sul Brasil is a city Brésil ienne of the western of the State of Santa Catarina. It is located by a Latitude of 26º 44 ' 10" south and by a Longitude of 52º 57 ' 53" west, with a Altitude of 418 meters. Its population was estimated at: 2557 inhabitants in 2006. The municipality extends on 113 km ².

General information

The economic main activities of the cities are agriculture (Aviculture and breeding of chickens in particular), but also the Textile industry and of the piece of furniture. In September, every year, at the time of the birthday of the municipality, the “festival of farm chicken takes place”.

History

The name “Sul Brasil” comes the company Companhia Colonizadora Sul Brasil which, in 1944, coordinated the arrival of descendants of German colonists and Italian coming from the Rio Grande C Sul. Shortly after arrived of the Polish. The main aim of these colonists was the exploitation of wood on these fertile and not very expensive grounds. Until 1991, the locality of Sul Brasil was attached to the municipality of Modelo, of which it acquired its autonomy.
