Suikoden (video game)

Suikoden ( Gensou Suikoden in Japan) is a Video game left on PlayStation in 1995. It is the first play of a series of roleplays.

The play rests on a Chinese legend according to which 107 people would be gathered by a leader, to form 108 stars of the destiny. It is what the play proposes: the hero (of which you determine the name at the beginning of part), wire of the general Teo McDohl, starts by entering the rebellion, and will end up taking the head of it, being thus opposed to the Barbarossa emperor and his six Large Generals. This roleplay is thus impregnated of military strategy, and leaves an important place to the recruitment of the characters. Indeed, once a found HQ, your army will need strategists, soldiers, but also of merchants, wizard, etc It will also be necessary to form alliances with the various areas of the Empire of the Scarlet Moon, and détrôner its leader.

Scenario

Suikoden starts whereas the hero is made name knight at the court of the Emperor. His/her father belongs to the six Generals of the Empire, and is charged to protect the north-western border from it. But while speaking with the inhabitants about the various cities, and by carrying out the searches requested by the Emperor, it quickly becomes obvious that this one directs its people badly. This last pays innumerable taxes. Little time afterwards, one discovers that the best friend of the hero has a very powerful rune, this one being coveted by Lady Windy, the adviser of the Emperor, since centuries. The hero is thus constrained to flee to protect the rune that his/her friend transmitted to him. Its escape will make him join an small group of resistant directed by Odessa Silverberg. But their number does nothing but decrease, because the people refuse to follow them by fear of the reprisals. The history takes a new turning after the death of Odessa, at the time of the attack of the hiding place of the rebels. Before dying, she asks the hero to give her ring to a man named Mathiu, which proves to be his/her brother and one of the largest strategists of the country. Initially reticent to come to them to assistance, Mathiu changes opinion into seeing the rune of the hero and decides that this one is the only one with being able to direct resistance. But so that the sympathizers of the rebellion do not despair, it is decided to hide with the people the death of Odessa which was the symbol. After having made of an abandoned castle their HQ, the hero puts themselves then in search of novel members to follow it, and gradually recruits other stars of the destiny. Through battles, they rejoin the various areas which compose the empire, and end up turning over to the castle of the Emperor to embank it.

Main characters

Hero : The hero of the history, wire of the Large General Téo McDohl and intended to follow the way of his/her father to the service of the Emperor. After a coincidence, it is found to take the head of the resistant faction, for finally reversing the established capacity. Its official name is Tyr McDohl.
Gremio : Servant of the family McDohl, it has as a task to hold the house, but also to protect the hero, and this with the danger of his life. Its relation with him is ambiguous, so much so that the versions American and European were censured on the level of the translation.
Cleo : The only woman of the household, it fought at the sides of Teo and lives today as a " gardienne" of the family.
Pahn : Following the example Cleo, this former soldier protects the McDohl hearth.
Ted : Better friend of the hero, it was collected by Teo. He has a mysterious past and holds the rune Mangeur of Hearts ( Soul Eater ) and is old of more than 300 years.
Lady Leeknaat : This powerful witch has as a role, seems it, to prepare the " predictions stellaires" for the emperor. It is the little sister of Windy. She will guide the hero in her search with stars.
Odessa Silverberg : Founder of the liberation movement against the Emperor.
Viktor : Founding member of the army of Release, he is that will introduce the hero to Odessa, and will push it to join the rebellion.
Flik : Also founding member and promised in marriage of Odessa. Its handling of the sword is worth the nickname of " to him; Flik with the flash bleu" ( Blue Thunder Flik ). It is originating in the village of the Warriors, and in accordance with their tradition, his sword bears the name of its beloved.
Humphrey Mintz : Founding member and former soldier who was turned over against his commander after the tragedy battle of Kalekka, become thus outlaw.

Kuromimi : only Kobold survivor of the magic spell whose its village is struck.
Gen and Kamandol : Respectively fishing and engineer, they make their talent profitable in order to cross the rapids.

Tengaar : Girl of the chief of the village of the Warriors, a little real tomboy, it is removed by the vampire Neclord to be one as of the her " fiancées". Less timid than Hix, it waits until this one is declared.
