Sudanese Communist party
The Sudanese Communist party is a communist political party with the Sudan.
Founded in 1946, it was a major political clout in Sudan and one of the most influential Communist parties of the world arabo-Moslem, with the Iraqi Communist party. Its influence decreased however abruptly in 1971, when a coup d'etat fallen through officers pro-Communists led the Head of the State Gaafar Al-Nimeiry to launching a wave of repression against the party. The most known leaders of the party such as Abdel Khaliq Mahjub, Joseph Garang, Alshafi Ahmed Elshikh, Babkir Elnour or Hashim Elatta are carried out.
Since 2006, the party is directed by Muhammad Ibrahim Nugud and plays only one marginal part in the Sudanese political life. It supports the return to the democracy and is opposed the possible secession of the South Sudan.
