The evolution between the first album 1994 and the tenth album Engelskrieger is impressive, the more so as since the album MCMXCV more no song is in English. The ninth album Northern North Ost mark a certain change of the musical style but also the passage of the publisher Universal at the publisher Nuclear Blast.
At the conclusion of a round in crowned live-acoustics of success, the live DVD Nackt is published which contains a big number of no-claims bonus. A member of the group The Inchtalokatables comes to collaborate in the project by accompanying them with the violoncello.
German texts and Middle AgesThe lyric style holds a big part with the success of the group. The Bodenski lyric writer, who studied the German literature, writing, since the album MCMXCV of the German texts rich in Métaphore S, which sound partly medieval. Because of the contents of the first albums, in which Sorcières appear, wandering and other daring beings, Subway to Sally was quickly put in the category Medieval rock'n'roll. During interviews, the group was defended some, referring to the folk rather. The topic of the Middle Ages is not present any more starting from the album Engelskrieger , on which Bodenski speaks mainly about complaints of the current time. The album Northern North Ost turns over to similar topics of the older albums.
