Subway of Los Angeles

The subway of Los Angeles (official name: Los Angeles County Subway Rail , or Metropolitan railway of the Comté of Los Angeles) is the principal joint transport system of the agglomeration angelina. It was open in 1990 and has four lines and 65 stations, for 73,1 miles of ways (more than 117 km) and 274.000 passengers per day. It is managed by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The traffic is ensured 5 a.m. of the morning midnight, but the schedules can vary according to the used line.

List lines

  • the purple line ( line crimson ):
  • the red line ( red line ): opened in 1993, it is the only line of the network to being a Métro strictly speaking. It connects Downtown Los Angeles to Koreatown and Hollywood. With 138.000 users per day, it is also the most attended line network.
  • the blue line ( blue line ): opened in 1990, it is a line of Light subway which connects Downtown Los Angeles to Downtown Long Beach. It is the first line of public transport to have been open in the area since the closing of the network of tram of Pacific Electric Railway in 1961.
  • the green line ( green line ): opened in 1995, it connects Redondo Beach to Norwalk in the light subway.
  • the gold line ( gilded line ): opened on July 26th 2003, it connects Downtown Los Angeles to Pasadena in the light subway.
