Subway of Hamburg

The Métro (U-Bahn) of Hamburg was opened with the exploitation in 1912 and transports 180 million passengers today. It comprises 3 lines and fact part of the system of Public transport of the city which also includes/understands a network of the RER (S-Bahn), a network of suburban trains (AKN) and a network of bus. It is exploited by Hamburger Hochbahn AG (HHA) and belongs to the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV).

The network

The subway of Hamburg includes/understands 3 lines and 101 km of ways including 50 km on embankments or in trenches, 42 km in underground and 9 on viaducts or bridges. The network serves 89 stations.

The frequency of the oars lies between 4 and 10 minutes. At the rush hours it rises at 3 minutes in Center town. On certain sections like early the morning and late the evening the frequency falls at 20 minutes. Since the change of schedules of December 2004, the subways circulate the nights of Friday and Saturday with a 20 minutes frequency.
